'걸그룹 멤버 친동생' 김성표, 4할대 불방망이쇼! 늦깎이 스타 예고

[OSEN=대구, 손찬익 기자] 삼성 라이온즈 내야수 김성표가 자체 평가전에서 4할대 불방망이를 휘두르며 늦깎이 스타 탄생을 예고했다. 

휘문고를 졸업한 뒤 2013년 삼성에 입단한 김성표는 데뷔 후 단 한 번도 1군 무대를 밟지 못했지만 잠재력은 풍부하다는 평가를 받았다. 또 아이돌 스타 못지 않은 특출한 외모와 여성 걸그룹 스텔라의 멤버 가영의 친동생으로 유명세를 탔다. 

김성표는 귀국 후 자체 평가전에서 연일 뜨거운 타격감을 이어가고 있다. 8일 현재 타율 4할2푼1리(19타수 8안타) 4타점 3도루로 팀내 타자 가운데 가장 두드러진 활약을 보이고 있다. OPS는 무려 .979에 이른다. 8일 경기에서도 4타수 3안타 1타점 2득점 1도루 원맨쇼를 펼쳤다. 

김성표는 "일본 오키나와 캠프에서 대주자 또는 대수비로만 뛰었는데 귀국 후 자체 평가전에서 꾸준히 선발 출장 기회를 얻고 있다"면서 "대수비 또는 대주자로 나설 때와 달리 지금은 일정한 타석 기회와 수비 포지션이 정해져 있어 당장 무엇을 보여줘야 하는 압박감없이 편안하게 경기를 즐기고 있다"고 만족감을 드러냈다. 

이어 그는 "입단 당시에는 수비를 예쁘게 한다는 소리도 들었지만 수비만 잘해서는 프로에서 살아남을 수 없는 걸 알기에 주루와 타격 연습도 정말 열심히 했다"고 덧붙였다. 김성표는 또 "다들 수비와 주루는 어느 정도 하지만 타격에 대해서는 부정적인 의견이 많았다. 방망이 소질은 있으나 힘이 부족해서 힘들다는 것"이라고 털어놓았다. 

김성표는 단점 보완보다 장점의 극대화에 초점을 맞췄다. 그는 "객관적으로도 다른 선수들에 비해 힘이 부족하지만 나는 홈런을 치는 타자가 아니다. 정확한 배팅을 통해 안타를 만들 수 있다. 강하게 치려고 하기보다는 정확하게 배팅하는데 집중하고 있다. 누상에 나가면 빠른 발을 통해 상대 투수를 괴롭힐 것"이라고 말했다. 

성공에 목마른 김성표는 "연습경기에서 좋은 모습을 보이고 있지만 정규시즌까지 이어 가고 싶다. 1군에서 좋은 모습을 통해 많은 경기에 나서고 싶다"는 바람을 숨기지 않았다. /what@osen.co.kr
