노르웨이 올림픽위원회, IOC에 도쿄올림픽 개최 연기 요청

슬로베니아·콜롬비아 올림픽위원장도 '올림픽 개최 시기 미뤄야'

노르웨이 올림픽위원회가 국제올림픽위원회(IOC)에 올해 7월 개막 예정인 도쿄올림픽의 연기를 요구했다.
21일 dpa통신에 따르면 노르웨이 올림픽위원회는 이날 '신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)이 진정세에 접어들 때까지 도쿄올림픽 개최를 미루자'는 의견을 담은 공문을 IOC에 발송했다.
도쿄올림픽은 7월 24일부터 8월 9일까지 열릴 예정이고 이후 8월 25일부터는 장애인올림픽이 이어진다.
그러나 최근 코로나19의 세계적인 확산에 따라 도쿄올림픽 개최 시기를 미뤄야 한다는 의견이 힘을 얻고 있다.
로이터통신은 "슬로베니아 올림픽위원회 보그단 가브로베치 위원장도 자국 뉴스 통신사 STA와 인터뷰에서 '코로나19로 인해 선수들이 올림픽 준비에 공평한 기회를 얻지 못하고 있으므로 대회를 연기해야 한다'는 입장을 밝혔다"고 보도했다.
가브로베치 위원장은 "2021년에 올림픽을 열어도 문제 될 것이 없다"며 1년 정도 개최 시기를 미뤄야 한다고 주장했다.
또 콜롬비아 올림픽위원회 발타사르 메디다 위원장 역시 로이터통신과 인터뷰에서 "IOC와 도쿄올림픽 조직위원회가 참가자들의 안전을 보장하지 못하면 대회 연기를 신중하게 검토해야 한다"고 밝혔다.
메디다 위원장은 "개인적인 의견 역시 연기해야 한다고 생각하고, IOC도 책임 있는 모습을 보일 것"이라며 "경기 일정을 지키기 위해 1만 명이 넘는 참가자들의 건강을 위험하게 할 수는 없다"고 주장했다.
토마스 바흐 IOC 위원장은 20일 미국 신문 뉴욕타임스와 인터뷰에서 "현재 다른 시나리오도 검토하고 있지만 올림픽이 4개월 정도 남은 지금 시점에 어떤 결정을 내리는 것은 무책임한 일"이라며 현재로서는 올림픽 연기 계획이 없다고 밝혔다.
한편 교도통신은 21일 도쿄올림픽 조직위원회 엔도 도시아키 부위원장이 노르웨이 올림픽위원회의 서한에 대한 질문을 받고 "조직위는 올림픽 취소나 연기를 결정하는 단체가 아니다"라며 "최종 결정은 IOC가 하고, 조직위는 대회를 7월에 개막하기 위해 준비하는 단체"라고 답했다고 보도했다.

다시마 고조(62) 일본 축구협회 회장이 코로나19 검사에서 양성반응이 나왔다고 17일 교도 통신이 밝혔다. 교도 통신은 관계자의 발언을 인용해 해당 소식을 전했다.
사가신문, 산케이 비즈, 닛칸스포츠 등 다른 일본 매체들도 다시마 회장의 확진 판정을 소식을 잇따라 전했다.
J리그는 이날 도쿄 JFA 하우스에서 예정됐던 이사회 및 기자회견을 시작 직전에 전격 중단했다. JFA하우스엔 다시마 회장의 집무실이 있다.
다시마 회장은 지난달 하순부터 이번달 상순에 걸쳐 해외 출장을 다녔다. 북아일랜드 유럽 축구연맹(UEFA) 회의에 참석하고 여자 월드컵 유치활동을 위해 미국을 찾기도 했다.
다시마 회장은 일본축구협회뿐만 아니라 국제 축구연맹(FIFA)이사, 일본 올림픽위원회(JOC) 부회장 등 요직을 맡고 있다.
17일 현재 일본은 확진자 4명이 늘어난 839명이다. 사망자는 늘어나지 않고 28명을 유지했다.

각 리그가 코로나19 여파로 중단되면서 6월 계약 만료를 앞둔 선수들이 난감한 상황에 놓였다. 겨울 이적시장을 통해 RCD마요르카로 이적한 기성용도 마찬가지다.
기성용은 지난달 스페인 라리가의 마요르카로 이적했다. K리그 복귀를 추진했지만 무산되면서 해외로 눈을 돌렸고, 때마침 마요르카가 손을 내밀었다. 기성용은 적지 않은 나이에도 불구하고, 고심 끝에 스페인 무대에서 첫 도전을 결심했다.
그러나 기성용의 라리가 도전은 시작부터 제동이 걸렸다. 코로나19가 빠르게 확산되면서 라리가가 2주간 중단됐기 때문이다.
기성용은 지난 7일(이하 한국시간) 에이바르 원정에서 후반 37분 교체 투입돼 데뷔전을 치렀다. 당초 일정대로라면 마요르카는 16일 홈에서 바르셀로나와 `2019/2020 스페인라리가` 28라운드 경기를 치를 예정이었다. 리오넬 메시와 기성용의 맞대결이 성사될 수도 있었지만, 다음을 기약하게 됐다.
라리가는 현재 3월 말 리그 재개를 목표로 하고 있다. 하지만 유럽도 코로나19의 직격탄을 맞은 상황이라 리그가 언제 재개될 지 장담할 수 없다. 마요르카와 4개월 단기 계약을 맺은 기성용도 난감한 상황이다. 기성용은 마요르카와 6월 말에 계약이 만료되는데, 리그 중단이 장기화될 경우 계약이 꼬이게 된다.
기성용과 동병상련인 선수가 112명이나 된다. 스페인 `아스`는 15일 "7월까지 리그 경기를 치르게 될 경우 문제에 놓이게 되는 라리가 선수는 총 112명이다. 바르셀로나를 제외한 19개 팀에 문제가 생긴다"고 보도했다. 다수의 팀이 6월 말 선수들을 대거 잃게 되는데, 두 손 놓고 있을 수 없는 상황이다.
스페인 축구연맹의 루이스 루비알레스 회장은 `아스`를 통해 "정해져있는 대응 방법이 없는 상황이다. 이에 대한 해결책을 마련해야 한다"면서 "이번이 선례가 될 것이기 때문에 신중한 결정을 내려야 한다. 선수들의 계약 기간은 6월 30일에 끝나지만, 특별한 조치를 취할 수 있다"며 6월 30일 계약 만료를 앞둔 선수들의 거취에 대한 논의를 시작했다고 했다.
라리가에서 이미 활약해 온 선수들의 경우엔 타격이 덜하지만, 기성용은 이번 시즌 후반기를 통해 자신의 능력을 증명해야 하는 '늦깎이 신입생'이었다. 짧은 기간 동안 가치를 보여줘야 마요르카에서 재계약을 제시받거나, 다른 라리가 구단의 러브콜을 이끌어낼 수 있었다. 기성용은 라리가 어느 선수보다도 난감한 처지다.
컨디션 관리 측면에서도 기성용의 타격은 유독 크다. 다른 선수들은 시즌 진행 중 리그가 중단됐기 때문에 당분간은 감각 유지가 가능하다. 반면 기성용은 공백기 끝에 에이바르전을 가졌고, 연달아 경기에 출장하며 감각을 끌어올려야 하는 타이밍이었다. 이때 리그가 중단되며 '감각 회복 프로그램'이 원점으로 후퇴해 버렸다.

호날두는 최근 자신의 고향인 포르투갈 마데이라로 몸을 숨겼다. 팀 동료 다니엘레 루가니가 코로나19 확진 판정을 받으며 자가 격리에 돌입했기 때문. 세리에A는 4월3일까지 중단된 상태다. 하지만 호날두는 자가 격리 중에도 연일 이슈를 만들어내고 있다. 그는 자신이 소유한 7층 별장에 머물며 호화로운 격리 생활을 자랑했다. 지난 15일에는 자신의 호텔 두 곳을 코로나19 환자를 위한 무료 병원으로 개조한다는 뜻을 전했다. 그러나 불과 하루만에 가짜뉴스임에 밝혀졌다.
이번에는 팬 조롱으로 논란을 일으켰다. 영국 언론 데일리스타는 16일(한국시각) '호날두는 별장 근처에서 기다리고 있던 팬과 언론을 놀리며 시간을 보내고 있다. 호날두는 자신의 채널을 통해 영상을 공개했다. 호날두는 집 주변에 모여있는 사람들을 보기 위해 재빨리 커튼 밖을 훔쳐보는 장면을 공개했다. 호날두는 건방지게 고개를 불쑥 내밀고선 팬들에게 씁쓸한 미소를 지어보였다. 이후 불과 몇 초 만에 다시 자기 방으로 사라졌다'고 보도했다.
한편, 호날두는 개인 SNS(소셜네트워크서비스)에 '축구 선수가 아니라 아들이자 아버지로서 말하고 싶다. 우리는 세계보건기구와 정부의 조언을 따르는 것이 중요하다. 인간의 생명 보호가 무엇보다 우선돼야 한다. 나는 내 동료 루가니처럼 코로나19와 싸우고 있는 사람, 코로나19 퇴치를 위해 노력하는 사람들에게 지지를 보낸다'고 적었다.

키움 히어로즈가 1,2군 선수단 훈련을 중단했다.
키움은 16일 고척스카이돔에서 자체 청백전을 치를 예정이었다. 그러나 이날 2군인 고양 선수 중 한 명이 고양국가대표야구훈련장에서 훈련 전 체온을 잰 결과 38.3도가 나와 선별진료소로 이동했다. 매뉴얼에 따라 1,2군 선수단 훈련이 중단됐다.
키움 선수단은 지난 13일,14일 고양훈련장에서 전체 훈련을 진행했다. 시간대는 달랐지만 이날 1,2군 선수단이 같은 훈련장을 사용했기 때문에 1군 선수단도 16일 예외 없이 훈련하지 않았다.
키움 관계자는 "선수들은 모두 귀가해 자체 자가격리에 들어갔다. 발열 증상이 나타난 선수의 검진 결과가 나타날 때까지 훈련을 실시하지 않을 예정"이라고 설명했다.

[인터풋볼] 신명기 기자= 잉글리시 프리미어리그(EPL)가 신종 코로나바이러스감염증(코로나19) 관련 긴급회의에 나섰다. EPL 구단 대표 중 한 명은 영국의 한 언론에 리그가 수 주간 중단되는 것은 물론이고 시즌 무효화 가능성을 주장한 것으로 알려졌다.
중국 우한에서 발병한 것으로 알려진 코로나19가 아시아를 넘어 유럽에도 큰 영향을 미치기 시작했다. 가장 큰 피해를 본 국가 중 하나가 이탈리아였고 독일, 프랑스 등 주요국들도 코로나19 여파를 피하지 못했다.
비교적 피해가 덜 했던 영국도 확산 속도가 빨라지는 모양새다. 영국 당국도 코로나19 공식 대응 단계를 상향시켜 대응하고 있는 상황이다.
문제는 현지에서 생각하는 것보다 빠르게 악화되고 있다. EPL 사무국 측은 13일(한국시간) 일단 리그를 정상적으로 진행하겠다는 입장을 밝혔지만 얼마 지나지 않아 아스널의 미켈 아르테타 감독의 확진 소식이 나오면서 상황이 급변하기 시작했다. 그러자 보리스 존슨 영국 총리도 스포츠 이벤트의 전면적 중단 가능성을 시사하고 나섰다.
일단 영국 내 최대 스포츠인 축구 종목의 중단 가능성이 상당히 높아진 상황이다. EPL은 구단 대표들을 중심으로 한 긴급회의를 소집해 이 가능성을 논의하기로 했다. 일단 당사자인 아스널의 브라이튼 원정경기가 무기한 연기됐다.
EPL도 다른 유럽 리그들과 마찬가지로 잠정 중단한 뒤 코로나19의 진정세를 관망할 것으로 보인다.
하지만 사무국보다 리그에 참가하는 구단들은 이번 상황을 더 심각하게 인지하고 있는 듯 보인다. 한 EPL 구단 경영진은 영국 `가디언`을 통해 아르테타 감독 확진 소식으로 인해 리그가 수 주간 중단될 것으로 예상하면서 이번 시즌 전체의 무효화 가능성도 배제하지 않는다는 입장을 전했다.
현재 각 구단들은 28라운드에서 29라운드 경기를 치러 약 10라운드 정도 일정이 남은 상황이다. 우승 팀, 유럽축구연맹(UEFA) 주관 대회 진출 팀, 강등 팀이 결정되지 않은 상황에서 리그 일정을 강행할 수 없다는 것이 문제다.
아직 공식적으로 논의된 바는 없지만 구단 관계자의 해당 발언은 코로나19가 생각보다 더 기승을 부릴 경우 무효화 가능성도 염두에 둬야 한다는 입장이 반영돼 나온 것으로 보인다.
